Vishu Kani, the harbinger of happiness
Vishu marks the beginning of a new year for Keralites. Setting up Vishu Kani (Vishukkani), an assortment of auspicious items in front of the Krishna idol is considered to be an important part of the festival. The first sight of this Kani is supposedly believed to herald a prosperous and fruitful year.
